Our History

1935

At the age of 16, Adolph Kiefer becomes the first person in history to break the one minute barrier in the 100 yard backstroke. This record would stand for over 15 years.

1936

At the age of 17, Adolph Kiefer wins the Gold Medal for the United States in Berlin, Germany.

1942

Serving for the US Navy in World War II, Kiefer uncovers the fact that the Navy is losing more lives to drowning than to enemy bullets. Kiefer was appointed to a committee to set new guidelines for safety and training, teaching sailors how to swim and survive in the water.

1947

Adolph Kiefer established Adolph Kiefer & Associates, Inc. in Chicago

1976

The 1976 Summer Games in Montreal marked the historic Olympic debut for Mondo as the official supplier of the athletic track surface.

1977

Adolph Kiefer forms Kiefer Specialty Flooring, Inc. and introduces Mondo sports surfaces into the United States Marketplace.

1980

Mondo is named the official Track & Field supplier to the Olympic Games in Moscow.

1984

Mondo is named the official Track & Field supplier to the Olympic Games in Los Angeles, California

Kiefer Specialty Flooring becomes the largest supplier of Mondo sports surfacing in the United States

1987

Kiefer Specialty Flooring enters the hardwood sports flooring market segment

1991

Kiefer Specialty Flooring launches a direct mail catalog to the institutional market segment

1998

Kiefer Specialty Flooring enters the artificial turf market segment

2000

Kiefer Management completes the purchase of Kiefer Specialty Flooring from Adolph Kiefer

2004

Kiefer Specialty Flooring, Inc. moves into new corporate headquarters in Lindenhurst, IL

Kiefer Specialty Flooring expands its reach in the commercial flooring market

2014

Kiefer Specialty Flooring, Inc. launches a bold new rebranding initiative, company formally becomes Kiefer U.S.A

2015

Kiefer USA introduces its’ revolutionary patented Integrated Striping Technology, thus eliminating paint from most synthetic installations.

2021

Kiefer USA joins the Diverzify Network of Brands. The Network becomes the largest Commercial Flooring Entity in the United States.
